Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 April 2026 · Applies to Tabledex for Android and iOS
Short version
Tabledex does not collect personal information and has no user accounts. The only data that ever leaves your device is anonymous game-room activity (player nicknames and scores) during an active session — it is automatically deleted when the session ends.
Who we are
Tabledex is developed and maintained by Cogorium. The app is an unofficial board game rules reference tool and is not affiliated with any game publisher. You can reach us at cogorium@proton.me.
Data we do not collect
We do not collect, transmit, or store:
- Names, email addresses, or any account information
- Location data
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Usage analytics or crash reports
- Any data that could identify you personally
Data stored locally on your device
The following data is stored only on your device in a local SQLite database and is never transmitted to us:
- Downloaded game content — rules, quick-start guides, and FAQ sections you choose to download
- Game sessions — player names, dates, and results you log manually in the score history
- App preferences — your chosen language and display theme
- Favourites — which games you have marked as favourites
This data remains on your device and is deleted if you uninstall the app. You can also delete individual sessions or downloaded games at any time from within the app.
Network access — downloading game content
When you search for or download a game, the app connects to Google Firestore (a cloud database operated by Google LLC) to retrieve game rules content. This connection:
- Only happens when you explicitly search or tap "Download"
- Only fetches game content (rules, titles, metadata) — no personal data is sent
- Is read-only: the app never writes user data to our servers
Once downloaded, all content is available offline and no further network requests are made for that content.
Game rooms (live multiplayer)
The optional Game Rooms feature lets players at the same table share a live scoreboard in real time. When you create or join a game room:
- The nickname you enter and your score are written to a temporary document in Google Firestore.
- This data is visible to other players in the same room only.
- No account, email address, or device identifier is attached to the room document.
- When the host ends the session the room document is permanently deleted from Firestore. It is not archived or retained by us.
- If you leave a room before the host ends it, your entry is marked as left and excluded from the live view.
Because nicknames are free-text, avoid entering real names or other personal information as your game-room name.
Google's own privacy policy applies to all Firestore network requests: policies.google.com/privacy.
Third-party SDKs
Tabledex includes the following third-party libraries:
- Firebase JS SDK (Google LLC) — used to read game content from Firestore and to power the Game Rooms feature. No Firebase Analytics, Authentication, or Crashlytics is used.
- Expo SDK (Expo Inc.) — the app framework. No Expo analytics or telemetry is enabled.
Game content and AI assistance
All rule summaries, quick-start guides, and FAQ entries in Tabledex are written in our own words. They are not copied from official rulebooks. Some content may be drafted with the assistance of AI writing tools and is reviewed for accuracy before publication. Tabledex is an unofficial reference app and is not affiliated with any game publisher.
Children's privacy
Tabledex does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The app contains no registration flow and collects no personal data from any user, regardless of age. Game-room nicknames entered by any user are deleted when the session ends.
Data security
We do not store personal data on our own servers. Game-room data held temporarily in Firestore is protected by Google's infrastructure and is deleted automatically at session end. All locally stored data is protected by your device's own security mechanisms.
Your rights
Since we hold no persistent personal data about you, there is nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete on our end. To remove all local app data, simply uninstall Tabledex from your device. Any active game-room data is deleted when the host ends the session.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
